Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are poised to further strengthen their economic and industrial cooperation in the mining and minerals sector, as both countries explore joint investment opportunities and collaborative initiatives across the entire mineral value chain.

These discussions took place on the sidelines of the Future Minerals Forum (FMF) 2026 in Riyadh, underscoring the increasing global emphasis on mining and critical minerals, according to APP.

Pakistan’s delegation, led by Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik, held a meeting with Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Ibrahim Al-Khorayef to discuss avenues for enhanced bilateral collaboration.

During the meeting, the Federal Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening ties with the Kingdom, highlighting ongoing cooperation between the Geological Survey of Pakistan and the Saudi Geological Survey. He also drew attention to Pakistan’s significant mineral potential, particularly within the Tethyan Belt, including the Reko Diq project, and outlined opportunities in fertilizer production and medical equipment manufacturing.

Minister Al-Khorayef welcomed Pakistan’s participation in FMF 2026, emphasizing Saudi Arabia’s technical expertise and support in the mining sector. He further commended Pakistan’s young and dynamic workforce, describing it as a valuable asset for future collaboration.

The Pakistani delegation comprises senior policymakers, representatives from state-owned enterprises and the private sector, and key mining stakeholders, including PPL, OGDCL, Mari Energies, GHPL, FWO, PMDC, Saindak Metals, and mineral companies from Balochistan, along with specialized service providers.

Pakistan’s participation at the forum—organized by Pakistan Petroleum Limited in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division)—highlights the country’s rich geological resources, flagship mining projects, and investment potential under the theme “Mineral Marvel: Unleashing Pakistan’s Mineral Revolution.”

Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Ahmad Al-Malkiy welcomed the delegation, commending the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Federal Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik, and reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s support in further strengthening the longstanding brotherly relations between the two countries.

During his visit to the Pakistan Pavilion, Minister Bandar Ibrahim Al-Khorayef praised its distinctive design and strong visual impact.
